Success at the EU Nations


Midlands League players take on Europe!

Two players from the Midlands League came 4th when they represented England U16s in Prague. Charlie Brogan (Cheltenham) and James Bushnell (Northampton) helped their team secure the playoff fixture by winning the hotly contested Group C which contained U17 squads from Scotland and Denmark. Solihull's Phil Powell (Solihull) was lead coach who missed the opportunity to join Solihull celebrate claim the British Water Polo League title the same weekend.

Not to be outdone by their male counterparts the England U16 sqaud  claimed bronze in an invitational event in Brno, Czech Republic. Midlands League trio of Matilda Neal, Eda Colliver and Aaliyah Lloyd (from Coventry, Coventry and Boldmere respectively) were part of the U16 England squad that secured the bronze medal in an 8-3 win over the hosts in the 3rd/4th Playoff.

The league also had players representing Wales. Joanne Chesworth-Rickards, Nia Sanders, Anna Jenkins-Delf and Seren Vaughan (all Worcester Crocodiles) came 6th with Anna securing the best goalkeeper award.

With such a wealth of talent playing within the MWPL the future of water-polo in the region looks to be in safe hands!
